Muurla is a vicinity, which is part of Salo, where a history of glass production lies. Muurla glass factory was founded in 1974 to continue a long standing tradition of  Finnish glass making which started in 1813 from this famous area. Muurla glass factory was founded in 1974 by Jaakko Uoti, engineering Juhani Ruuskanen, DI Kalevi Lystimäki, glassblowers Pertti, and Olli Kähönen and designer Tauno Wirkkala.
